Critical Utility Infrastructure Components
Substations are a key utility infrastructure to our societies, and they require constant monitoring to ensure security and prevent failures. Without this monitoring, they can fall victim to vandalism, theft, malfunctioning equipment, arc flash, and other technical failures that could cause outages, affecting critical services such as water supply and emergency service providers like hospitals.
Bi-Spectral PTZ Cameras for Monitoring
Bi-spectral PTZ cameras offer an optical and thermal solution to keeping substations monitored 24/7. This, combined with four fixed bi-spectral cameras, provides an optimal level of protection. Fixed cameras observe the perimeter continuously, while the PTZ can have routine tours set up to survey critical components and the perimeter. The thermal module within our cameras contains 327,000 pixel sheets that gauge and analyze data to provide temperature readings. These detailed images and real-time video streams allow for monitoring all critical points of interest using existing methodology. Our thermal cameras provide alarms based on temperature thresholds, temperature differences, and rapid temperature changes.
Intelligent Recognition and Security Enhancements
The bi-spectral lenses paired with AI and intelligent recognition ensure that the perimeter of the substation is secure. Virtual fences, line crossing detection, facial and license plate recognition, and other AI solutions allow you to survey up to a mile around the substation while receiving live alerts. If a fixed camera detects a person or vehicle, the PTZ camera can be set to find and track the object.
Features
- •Bi-spectral: By using both optical and thermal imaging, our cameras provide condition monitoring and intrusion alarms.
- •24/7 Monitoring: Touring settings and fixed-location monitoring with automatic alerting identify issues in real-time, improving safety and preventing outages.
- •Intelligent Recognition: Human, vehicle, and license plate detection alert intruders up to a mile away.
- •Complete Systems: Using a combination of our technologies, we can provide a complete system, such as our GridSafe system, for security and detection.
Conclusion
Substations are critical assets within our utility grid. For decades, we've put these key components and human lives at risk with outdated methods of maintenance and security. However, with the use of our bi-spectral camera systems and remote software access, we can revolutionize substation monitoring and enhance human safety.
